The health condition of people in Africa
The health condition of people in Africa calls for an urgent action to improve the health care services in the continent. ACF Missions has been conducting medical outreaches in remote villages of Africa since 1998 and has served thousands of people during our summer missions’ trips during this period.
Presently, we hold community medical outreaches in remote villages and communities that lack health care services during our summer mission trips in the Benin Republic and our two program sites (Fort Portal area and Kumi district) in Uganda. In Uganda, our local partner NGO, ACF-Uganda also conducts medical outreaches during December of every year in Kumi district. The medical team consists of doctors and nurses from the United States and local medical practitioners.
Provision of health care in Africa
The second component of our effort to help with the provision of health care in Africa is the construction and operation of health clinics. ACFMissions completed the construction of a medical clinic in Kigarama, Uganda which started providing services to the people in November 2013. ACFMissions also started the construction of a second medical clinic in Kamenya, Kumi district in Uganda in August 2014. Work is currently going on at the site and the physical structure of the clinic will be completed in 2019. The construction of this clinic is projected to cost about $100,000.00. Extra funding will be needed to equip the clinic for full operation.
The Kigarama medical clinic currently has eight staff members and it costs about $2,500.00 every month to pay staff salaries and replenish the stock of drugs and medical supplies to adequately operate the clinic. The clinic currently provides outpatient, inpatient, antenatal, and maternity services. The ministry needs funds for these projects and will appreciate your support. ACF Program Outcome
ACF has provided medical services to more than 10,000 patients since 2001 in the Benin Republic and Uganda through ACF community medical outreaches
We have also opened a grade three medical clinic in Kigarama, Uganda in November 2013. The official opening ceremony was on August 4, 2014, and was attended by the Prime Minister for Fort Portal region, the Resident District Commissioner (RDC) who represents the President of Uganda in the region, the District Health Officer, and other community leaders.
Construction of new grade-three medical clinics
Additionally, we have started the construction of new grade-three medical clinics in Kamenya, Kumi district Uganda in 2014. The groundbreaking ceremony was conducted on July 28, 2014, and was attended by the Prime Minister for Toro region, the Resident District Commissioner (RDC), the District Health Officer, and other community leaders.
